Book Blog

My book blog only includes books I'd recommend. I wouldn't want to discourage someone from reading a book with a bad review.  Whether you (or I!) enjoy a book is largely dependent on preference and mood. Whatever mood you're in today, find a good book to read. Enjoy!

A global pandemic, quarantine, a race for a cure… sound familiar? It was eerie reading this book during a pandemic. And this novel is the definition of a page-turner. I agree with other reviewers comparing Lawrence Wright to Michael Crichton. There was obviously a huge amount of research completed by Wright about the history of diseases, and it was particularly interesting to read considering what is going on right now. Pick up this book if you want to read a medical thriller!

If you’re in the mood for a feel-good read this is your book. The writing was great, and the tone was funny. It dabbled in a few serious issues but not in a scary way. I would like to be friends with all these women. I want to hop on the back of a horse, travel the trails, and spread the joy of reading to those who don’t have access to books.

Great mystery! A wedding on an island, the guests full of secrets and grudges... what could go wrong? Throw in spotty cell service, a storm, lots of alcohol and you have yourself a page turner! It was suspenseful while also being funny—especially if you’ve ever planned, or been in, a wedding.

The novel jumps from a couple POVs but Foley makes it work. The groom is a reality TV star and the bride publishes a magazine. You also follow the wedding planner, the best man, the bridesmaid, and the plus one. Who dies? Who’s the killer? You're kept guessing until the very end.
