Book Blog

My book blog only includes books I'd recommend. I wouldn't want to discourage someone from reading a book with a bad review.  Whether you (or I!) enjoy a book is largely dependent on preference and mood. Whatever mood you're in today, find a good book to read. Enjoy!

Cassie, a bookseller, receives a gift from her favorite customer: "The Book of Doors." This isn't just any book, it's capable of unlocking any door, anywhere in the world. Soon, Cassie and her best friend, Izzy, are stepping through portals to places previously only dreamed of. Unbeknownst to Cassie, she now holds an artifact that formidable collectors would stop at nothing to possess. And this isn't the only magical book out there, there are others that grant its owner’s unique, sometimes dangerous, powers. Join Cassie on a thrilling journey through time, and across thresholds, as she races to protect her book from falling into the wrong hands.

This is a delightful twisty-turny magical adventure, a smartly written story that will have you utterly hooked from the first page.

This book is an absolute delight!  I found myself captivated by each character. Each person is lovable and charming in a unique way. Pooley has officially claimed a spot as one of my favorite authors!

Lydia embarks on an unexpected journey as she takes a job running the Senior Citizens Social Club. What she anticipated as peaceful afternoons filled with knitting and tea quickly spirals into delightful chaos, as the club members defy all her expectations. When the city council threatens to close their beloved community center, the spirited seniors rally together, teaming up with the daycare next door to hatch an unorthodox plan. With time running out and the police closing in on a suspect, their feisty plot unfolds in a whirlwind of excitement.

A spellbinding, bingeable thriller! I haven’t read anything like this before.

Three women were killed by the same man. The only people who might be able to stop him are the women he murdered. Let the haunting begin.

Normally I don’t read books with ghosts. But after receiving a strong recommendation, I decided to give this novel a shot. I’m so glad I did! The author’s description of the afterlife is creative and unique. It transformed what could’ve been a typical thriller into a story that was emotional and thought provoking. The pacing was well done, and the tension kept building. Highly recommend if you’re in the mood for something dark and creepy.
