Book Blog

My book blog only includes books I'd recommend. I wouldn't want to discourage someone from reading a book with a bad review.  Whether you (or I!) enjoy a book is largely dependent on preference and mood. Whatever mood you're in today, find a good book to read. Enjoy!

If you’re in the mood for a sappy love story this is perfect. It’s like sippin’ sweet tea on the porch with your daughter. Or having apple pie with ice cream and whipped cream. You get my point, expect a tooth ache but a good one. Sometimes, I just need a happy book with a good ending. And this book is full of feel good moments and characters you want to root for.

Amelia is a recently separated journalist. Parker is a widower and works for his father-in-law. Before his wife passed, she froze four perfect embryos. As Amelia and Parker struggle with their uncertain futures, each go back to their childhood homes in Cape Carolina. The lifelong friends take solace in each other. What follows is a journey of self-discovery and a moving love story.

Dannie is a Type-A Lawyer who knows exactly where she wants to be in five years. She nails the interview for her perfect job and accepts a proposal from her boyfriend. Everything seems right on track. But then one night, she wakes up five years later next to a different man. She spends one hour in this “dream” that feels very real. Dannie struggles with the meaning behind her vision. And what happens if she were to run into that mystery man again?

I loved this book. I couldn’t put it down. Serle crafts an emotional and deeply entertaining story that unfolds over five years. I really liked the characters especially Dannie’s best friend Bella. Ultimately this is a love story between friends. Warning: be careful reading the ending in public, I was in tears. Highly recommend!

A fun romp of a book that kept me wanting more. Two neighboring authors find themselves both suffering from writer’s block. What if they switched styles? Augustus could write a ‘happily ever after’ and January could write the next Great American Novel. What unfolds is cleverly written and didn’t ever leave me thinking “oh, I’ve read this same romance before.” I highly recommend this book if you’re in the mood for a sweet and funny love story that includes some steamy scenes. I can’t wait to read more from this author.
