Now this is high fantasy you can sink your teeth into. It’s a historical fantasy that includes love, war and political intrigue. I kept finding myself re-reading sentences to enjoy them again. I wouldn’t recommend this book if you want a quick read, you’ll want to take your time. In the novel, two countries are in a collision course that will lead to war. Arbonne is ruled by women and the land is lush and fertile. They worship the Goddess and value song and love. Gorhaut is ruled by men and they intend to conquer Arbonne, who they view as weak. The character’s stories are beautifully weaved together into this world that echoes medieval France and the famed Court of Love.
