The Summer Tree (The Fionavar Tapestry #1) by Guy Gavriel Kay

I love this author. This particular book is the first in a series of three (yay! I also recommend the next two). Five men and women are taken from our world into a realm of magic on the brink of war. There they meet dwarves, wizards and gods. They are part of a pattern called the Fionavar Tapestry, and for the armies of the Light to win they must accept their destinies. I would call this “fantasy light.” This book was entertaining without getting bogged down in a lot of minutia. I love those complicated in-depth fantasy novels too, but sometimes you need something a little less complicated to enjoy.
